Does circumcision prevent premature ejaculation?

Circumcision and Premature Ejaculation

By Casey Simpkins, Sex and Relationship Therapist

Premature ejaculation (PE) is a commonly heard complaint from guys. It can cause embarrassment, trouble with relationships, erode confidence and self-esteem. One popular idea is that circumcision can help guys last longer, or reduce the sensitivity of the penis to prevent premature ejaculation (cumming too soon.) Can having a circumcised less sensitive penis  really mean having more fun?

Premature ejaculation is usually an issue for young men. They generally get excited fast, and can have difficulty holding it back. Perhaps this was a biological adaptation. After all males want to shoot off their baby making DNA torpedoes as rapidly as possible before a wild beast should pounce in the middle of sex, or before another male in the pack fights for the female. Fast ejaculation could have been an evolutionary adaptation.  But since we can now have sex in the safety of our bedroom (or at least the back seat of our car), cumming too quick is viewed as a social faux-pas. Especially when the Kleenex are out of reach.

Humans are also a social species, and sex strengthens our relationships and bonds. During sex our brain releases mood altering hormones like oxytocin, the love hormone. But we need to be stimulated long enough for these hormones to work their magic.

What is Circumcision?

So first we have to understand what is circumcision, and what are it’s effects. Males that had their foreskin removed are called cut, and men with their foreskin are called uncut, intact, or natural. Circumcision (really genital cutting) usually involves the cutting, clamping, crushing, and removal of the foreskin on a baby. Essentially the foreskin is crushed under a device to get the blood vessels to clot, then the foreskin is amputated.  (Whether circumcision actually provides any future benefit is another subject I won’t entertain here. However suffice to say no medical association in the world recommends it and many, like the Danish Medical Association in 2016, actually say circumcision of babies is medically unacceptable.)

Anatomy Lesson

The foreskin contains over 20,000 nerve endings, concentrated in the region known as the ridged band. The nerve endings terminate in sensory receptors known as the Meissners Corpusles. They are the fine touch receptors, or when they are stroked they transmit “Oh What A Feeling” up your spinal column to your brain.
So if you didn’t have all those Meissner’s stimulating the brain to shoot your load, would you be better off? Well before we come to that conclusion, we need to bring a few more things into play.

Infant circumcision disrupts the neural circuitry. It’s mostly a crushing injury due to the clamps typically used on babies. Neurologists (doctor’s that specialize in the nervous system) call this injury “neurotmesis,” or neuron death. During the healing process after an infant circumcision, the remaining nerves attempt to reconnect to the missing parts. When that proves to be impossible, they either die or reconnect themselves with existing nerves in unpredictable ways. This is like a bad car mechanic reconnecting your gas pedal so sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Imagine driving that car.

Side note: Adult circumcisions typically use stitches instead of the crushing clamps used on babies, and the penis is more developed. So someone cut as an adult will have a different set of circumstances compared to someone cut as a baby.

Foreskin in Action

The foreskin glides back and forth during sex. Its a double layer of skin, so it unfolds on itself when you thrust inside. It’s like a warm-blooded Slinky toy. foreskin circumcision premature ejaculationThe sensitive ridged band we mentioned earlier gets just as much sensation as you want depending how has we work the Slinky. The thrusting during sex, over which we can control the tempo, also controls the sensory output of the foreskin’s ridged bands to the brain. And they actually help a guy stay in control of his orgasm. The way nature designed it to work.

The foreskin also helps the penis adapt to different vaginas (or other body parts)! Whether a vagina is loose or tight, dry or juicy, the foreskin helps to keep the signals to the brain consistent to make sex pleasurable and lasting. And to keep the oxytocin hormones peaking for both partners, or multiple partners !

Now a circumcised guy actually gets most of his sensation from the remnants of the foreskin at the scar line (that mysterious dark ring around a cut guy’s penis just below the head). Also the remnants of the frenulum (the underside of the head.) This is where the nerves that use to be connected to the foreskin got terminated. It’s like the Bermuda Triangle, anything can happen there, from not enough sensation, to uncontrollable sensory input. Like a hair trigger, it can be a shortcut to busting your nut.

Medical Experts Confirm Circumcision Causes Premature Ejaculation Trouble

Medical research backs this up. A 2011 study found that “Circumcision was associated with frequent orgasm difficulties.” * Male circumcision and sexual function in men. Morten Frisch, Morten Lindholm and Morten Gronbak – Statens Serum Institute, National Institute of Public Health.

Another study in 1996 said “Circumcision removes an important component of the overall sensory mechanism of the human penis… the ridged band helps control the ejaculatory reflex.” The Prepuce: Specialized mucosa of the penis and its loss to circumcision:  Taylor, Lockwood, and A. J. Taylor, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada

Better Cures for PE

If you are having issues with premature ejaculation, you don’t need to undergo circumcision, especially when the “cure” can leave you worse off. So let’s see what else can be done.

You can wear a condom which give less sensation that going bareback and slow down the 3-2-1 countdown timer. premature ejaculation intaction

A urologist can prescribe an SSRI (anti-depressant medication). One of the off-label uses of these drugs is to delay orgasm.  There are also new drugs in the clinical trial pipeline that will help to delay orgasm by blocking some of the effect of oxytocin, specifically for preventing PE.

Guys can practice a routine of “Kegel” exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles which can help them hold back orgasms.

Lastly, a guy can wear a cock ring to hold back from busting your nut. I wouldn’t mind if a guy wore one, in fact I think they are hot.

While both cut and uncut men can ejaculate too quickly, cut men are more likely to experience premature ejaculation or have other orgasm difficulties. The human penis is a biomechanical wonder that nature engineered very precisely.  To say circumcision is good because it prevents PE just sounds to me like a fairy tale designed to put a positive spin on the weird practice of genital cutting.

Bottom line, when someone is cut, the nerves in the penis can become miswired and give unpredictable results. Intact men have more control over the sensation received through their foreskin. Plain and simple.

Now the next time you cum too fast when you’re with a hot chick, just blame that stupid circumcision.

Did you ever wonder if there was a way where circumcised men could regain some of the sensitivity and soft skin like intact men have? That silky feel that European men with foreskins have? After all, the foreskin is nature’s way to protect and lubricate penile skin, but without it the skin can become dry and insensitive.

One way for a cut man to get that feeling back is to perform foreskin restoration. Using a special device that can exert gentle tension in the skin, and with some perseverance, a new foreskin can regrown from the remaining skin. This process is similar to skin expansion techniques that doctors use to create skin for tissue grafting. But this process can take a few years.

However, what about men that are in the process of restoration, or men that don’t have the time for restoration. Why isn’t there anything for them? It became our mission to do something about this, to help guys achieve their maximum potential.

We thought about this and researched dermatological medical textbooks. We then consulted with a skin care formulation expert. We discovered a way to produce a skin care product for men that can actually mimic the natural foreskin secretions that protect and lubricate mens sensitive skin. Finally a way to reverse keritinization and dryness, regenerate new skin cells, and make your penis look and feel better.

Is it ok to say we have found a way to make cut penises great again?

We named this discovery ASPIRE ALPHA ARMOR. Because it’s for men that ASPIRE to achieve their fullest potential, both in and out of the bedroom. Alpha Armor is for dominant men that take charge, to protect and reinforce their most sensitive area for maximum performance.

So how can Alpha Armor deliver on these claims? Read on.

First we precisely combined and blended four natural emollients (Squalene, Lanolin, Ceresin beeswax, & Coconut oil) that interact to mimic foreskin secretions. These emollients create a tough barrier to prevent dehydration of the skin cells. The barrier also keeps the active ingredients against the skin

Then we added vitamins, lots of them, that target skin cells. Specifically, Vitamin A – retinyl, Vitamin B5, Vitamin C (modified to be absorbed by fatty skin tissue), and Vitamin E. These vitamins help skin cells repair and regenerate, while also serving as powerful anti-oxidants. Extensive research has shown that these vitamins promote healthy skin.

We added a plant extract (candeia), obtained from sustainable sources, that reduces inflamation and promotes healing, which is important for men that are doing foreskin restoration.

Lastly, we added a tri-peptide molecule, which is actually three amino acids molecularly joined together. This tri-peptide is designed to stimulate collagen growth in skin, which has been proven by in-vitro studies. New collagen means more elastic, more supple, and better looking skin.

We are making available this a product available at a very low cost for circumcised men, because they deserve to enjoy the maximum sexual experience they possibly can. The only thing that might exceed Alpha Armor would be having a foreskin.

We are trying to help alpha males that don’t have a foreskin, but still want some of the benefits. It’s like our mission

When you look at fancy skin repair creams in a pharmacy, they can sell for over $40 an ounce, and contain mostly water. Our product contains no added water. And our product is priced at a fraction of retail prices for high end skin care. Because we care. Because this is our mission.

Alpha Armor is designed to protect & nourish your skin for over 24 hours. No other skin care lasts that long. The best time to apply is right after showering. You can apply twice a day for more rapid results.

Alpha Armor is fragrance free, and has a slight sweet taste. So if you get lucky, there is no need to wash it off, and your partner might remark how good you taste.

So there you have it. If you have a circumcised penis and you want more out of sex, then make Alpha Armor part of your daily routine. Alpha Armor is produced exclusively by ADI Laboratories. ADI Laboratories is FDA registered.

Hi there. I am a 24 yr old male who was circumcised at the age of 15. I’m 9 yrs post op and the sensitivity is still a problem for me. As an uncircumcised youth I had no problems with sex or premature ejaculation. However, after the circumcision, my glans stayed extremely sensitive. Everything that I’ve read has said that they would de-sensitize over time but this has not happened. I know it’s not in my mind 1) bc I was fine before the circ and 2) bc it’s only with direct stimulation that I orgasm. The sensitivity is so strong that I ejaculate within seconds of penetration. Just to clarify, they left my frenulum which is super-sensitive and so is the inner skin that was left right under my head. I was thinking that it may help if I have the frenulum removed and have the less sensitive shaft skin pulled up closer the glans and remove any inner sensitive skin.

Any other advice or suggestions or similar experiences that could help would be greatly appreciated!

So sorry that you were circumcised as a teen . Your glans will desensitize having it exposed as it is . It will take time for it to happen . For us men that were circumcised at birth it happened all through our growing up and we have little to no feeling on our glans .Your lucky to have your frenulum think of the men that don’t .. Have you thought of restoring your foreskin? It is possible to grow enough skin to re cover your glans. it’s not the same as you former intact self . Though with time and tugging you can regain your former glory. Foreskin Restoration does Work…

“Circumcision was associated with frequent orgasm difficulties in Danish men” from https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21672947 It appears circumcision increases a wide variety of sexual difficulties in men including erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, and orgasm difficulty. Orgasm difficulty in particular may lead to depression and possibly increased mortality.

In agreement with Carlos Barrera’s comment I have known many men who due to sensitivity lost from circumcision have a very difficult time orgasming normally and resort to self-stimulation at the end of sex. No one can predict the results of any surgery with certainty. Male Genital Mutilation (circumcision) has no place in a modern society. Doctors who amputate healthy sexual tissue from children violate their oath.

As a cut male, I have the opposite problem, I seldom can get an orgasm while a sexual intercourse due to the much sensitivity I have lost, in most of the times I must end manually.

Carlos you can restore your foreskin , and gain sensitivity to your glans Restoring takes time and patience to do though it is worth every tug you do. Look in to Foreskin Restoration there are a few good web sites and a few facebook groups .. Foreskin is not a birth defect.
